# Settings

Open **Settings** from the sidebar (click on the Account Menu at the top of the Sidebar, then select Settings...) or the command palette. It has three parts.

## Preferences

Yours alone, synced to your devices: **Display Name**, **Profile Picture**, **Password & Email**, **Recovery Key**, **Date & Time**, **Theme**, **Keyboard Shortcuts**, **Check for Updates**, and on the desktop app **Markdown Mirror** and **MCP (AI Agents)**. On a phone, **Mobile Navigation**.

Save your Recovery Key somewhere safe outside Thymer. It is the only way back into your account if you forget your password; see [Encryption and recovery keys](../your-data/encryption-and-recovery-keys.md).

## Changing keyboard shortcuts

**Settings → Keyboard Shortcuts** holds your own key bindings. See [Change a shortcut](../start-here/keyboard-shortcuts.md#change-a-shortcut).

## Workspace

For admins of the workspace you have open: **Invite Users**, **Manage Users**, **Workspace Name**, **Default Collection**, **Plugins**, **Export**, and **Delete/Leave**. On iOS, also **iOS Shortcuts / Capture**.

The default collection is where **New Page** puts pages when you don't choose one. A Notes or Inbox collection works well.

## Account

For account owners: **Account Name/URL**, **Create Workspace** and **Close Account**. Changing the URL changes how everyone reaches the account, so tell the team first.
