Documentation/Apps and settings/Desktop app

Desktop app

Download the desktop app from thymer.com/desktop, install it, and sign in.

Two extra features the desktop app enables:

  • Markdown Mirror keeps a folder of Markdown files in sync with the workspace, both ways. Set it up in Settings → Markdown Mirror.
  • The MCP server lets other AI apps read and edit your workspace using tool calls. Turn it on in Settings → MCP (AI Agents). In the browser, the same is done with the thymercli companion. See Connect an AI agent with MCP.

The mirror runs while the app is open with that workspace selected. Both integrations work on the computer they run on; sign in on a second machine and set them up there separately.

Updates

The app checks for updates by itself, downloads them in the background, and asks to restart with Install Now when one is ready. Settings → Check for Updates, or Help → Check for Updates… in the menu bar, checks right away.

View → Reload reloads the window, and Force Reload reloads it without the cache. Help → Documentation opens these docs, and Help → Web Inspector opens the developer tools for plugin work. The accounts window, which lists your accounts, has Troubleshoot… in each account’s menu: it opens the diagnostics page; see The diagnostics page.
