Importing content
There are four ways to bring content into Thymer. Which one fits depends on how much there is and where it is now.
Paste as Markdown
For a page or a handful of pages, copy the text and paste it with ⌘⇧VCtrl+Shift+V, then choose Paste Markdown. Headings, lists, tasks, quotes, code blocks and links become Thymer’s own. ⌘⌥VCtrl+Alt+V does the same in one step. Formatted text from other apps also arrives formatted with a plain ⌘VCtrl+V.
A folder of Markdown through Markdown Mirror
For a whole collection, export it as Markdown and let the mirror import the files:
- Create the collection in Thymer and define the properties and choices your files use.
- Turn on Markdown Mirror with two-way sync, into an empty folder.
- Copy a few
.mdfiles into the collection’s folder. Each becomes a page, and frontmatter keys that match a property set its value. - Check the pages in Thymer: headings, nested lists, tasks, images, links between files, property values.
- Copy the rest.
The mirror is flat, one folder per collection. If your export has nested folders, flatten them and use a Sub-page of property for the hierarchy. Images next to the files are uploaded and linked when the page is imported. New files need no guid.
A plugin
When the source is not Markdown, or you want the connection to stay, a plugin can read a file or an API and create pages, set properties and link them. Check the community list for one that fits, or write your own with the SDK; the collection API creates records, and the record API fills them in.
An agent with both tools
If the other tool speaks MCP, connect an agent to it and to Thymer, and ask it to read from one and write to the other. Give Thymer Read & Write access for the target workspace and review the result in Thymer afterwards. See Connect an AI agent with MCP.
