Images and files

Drop an image or file onto a page, paste an image from the clipboard, or pick Media for an image or Attachment for any file from the @-menu. Images show inline and resize by dragging, with Shift for free proportions. Click an image to view it large. Other files show as attachments to open or download; PDFs open in a preview panel inside Thymer.

Files are encrypted like everything else and sync to your other devices when you open them. A file you have never opened on a device is downloaded when you first click it, so open the ones you will need before going offline.

Embeds

Paste a link to YouTube, Vimeo, Twitch, SoundCloud, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook or X, then right-click the link and choose its widget, such as YouTube widget, or pick Insert YouTube widget from the line’s menu. The player appears on a new line below the link. Embeds load from the service that hosts them, so they need a connection and are not part of your encrypted data.

Files as properties

When many pages need the same kind of attachment, such as a contract per customer, add a File or Image property to the collection instead. Gallery views can use an Image property as the card’s cover. See Properties.

Files in Markdown

Exports and Markdown Mirror put files in a files/ folder next to your Markdown and link to them relatively. Keep the folder with the text when you copy an export elsewhere. See Files and frontmatter.
