Search
Press ⌘⇧FCtrl+Shift+F or open Search in the sidebar. Type words to find them anywhere in the workspace. Results are lines, grouped by the page they belong to, up to 100 at a time, with the best text matches first. Open one in place, or aside with ⌘↵Ctrl+Enter so the search stays where it is. Add @page to get pages instead of lines.
A search can be a few words, like release notes, or a precise query, like @todo @overdue @Projects.Owner=@me. Words, #tags, @ filters for tasks, dates, people and properties, and AND, OR and NOT combine freely. The Query language reference lists every filter and operator, with dozens of examples.
Starter queries
@todo @me my open tasks
@overdue past their due date
@scheduled=@me @todo open tasks on my Journal
@todo and not @scheduled not planned yet
#research @thismonth tagged lines with a date this month
@Projects.Status="In progress" @page active projects
The same language everywhere
- View filters in a collection take a query; see Views.
- A query dragged onto a page becomes a live query block.
- A collection’s Related section runs a query for each page, with
$currentpageas the context. - The Tasks overview, the CLI’s
searchcommand and MCP’s search tool use it too.
Search Help in the command palette opens a summary of the syntax inside the app.
