Mobile apps
The mobile apps give you your whole workspace on a phone or tablet: every page, collection, task and your Journal, with offline access to everything you have synced. They are in beta. Get them from thymer.com/mobile, which has the TestFlight and Play Store links.
Sign in, pick a workspace, and let the first sync finish. From then on the app works offline and syncs when it is back online.
Quick Capture
The + button at the bottom of the screen is Quick Capture. Tap it, and Thymer opens your capture page with a new line at the end, the current time in front, and the keyboard ready. Type the thought or the task, and that’s it. Capture into the same page all day, and every entry shows when it came in.
Your capture page is today’s Journal page, or a new page in the default collection when the workspace has no Journal.
To capture somewhere else, long-press +. A sheet lists the Journal pages for today, tomorrow and next Monday, New Page for a new page in the default collection, your pinned pages and the pages you opened recently. Find a page… searches the rest, and the current capture page is marked Default. Pick one and the entry goes there, this once. To keep it, tap Set as default in the message that follows. Each workspace has its own capture page, the same on all your devices.
iOS Shortcuts and Siri
On iOS, Siri and the Shortcuts app can add text to Thymer. Set it up once per workspace, in the app:
- Open Settings → iOS Shortcuts / Capture.
- Turn on Enable Shortcuts Target.
- Under Name in Shortcuts, give it the name Siri and Shortcuts will use, such as “Personal Inbox”.
- Choose the Destination: today’s or tomorrow’s Journal, an existing page, or a new page in the default collection or another one.
- Tap Save.
In the Shortcuts app, the Capture in Thymer action takes the text and the destination, so you can build it into your own shortcuts and put one on the Home Screen or the Lock Screen.
Thymer opens and adds the text as a new line with the time in front, like Quick Capture. With a new page as the destination, the page is named after the first line of the text. Shortcuts lists the targets of every workspace you set up, with the account and workspace under each name.
Navigation
Settings → Mobile Navigation switches between the top menu and a compact icon strip in place of the sidebar. Panels stack on a phone; you see one at a time.
